Description
Apollo 11 Training Used "SC 1" Constellation Chart with Handwritten Annotations, Signed and Certified, Directly from the Personal Collection of Michael Collins, CAG Certified. A 12.75" x 9.5" (as encapsulated) star chart printed on cardstock of the Equatorial Region, Epoch 1925. Features handwritten notes throughout, as well the following on the verso: "Trying to put the/ Apollo One Crew/ in the heavens/ permanently:/ Note:/ # 3 Navi/ #20 Dnoces/ #17 Regor/ Backwards:/ #3 Virgil u Ivan /u Grissom/ #20 Ed White the/ u Second /u / #17 u Roger /u Chaffee/ This Chart/ Used During/ Training For/ The Apollo XI/ Flight/ Michael Collins CMP". This is in reference to the three stars named in honor of the fallen Apollo 1 crew shown on the chart.It is also signed along top in black ink: "Michael Collins/ Apollo XI CMP". A moving relic from the Apollo program directly from the Command Module Pilot of the most famous mission of all. Included with the lot is a handwritten LOA from Collins attesting to the extensive use of the star chart during training. Sealed in a numbered archival sleeve, CAG 3000043-006. Excellent.
