Description

Ex. Alan Bean

Apollo 12 Lunar Module Flown Sterling Silver SNAP 27 RTG Tie Tack, from Alan Bean's Personal Collection, with Certificate of Authenticity. This tie tack depicts a Systems Nuclear Auxiliary Power Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator with the moon in the background, approximately 0.5" x 0.625" in overall size with "Sterling" and "G.E.-NSP" on the back. These plutonium-238 powered devices were carried to the moon on the final five lunar modules to power the Apollo Lunar Surface Experiment Packages. Even years later, data was still being transmitted back to earth, powered by the SNAP 27s. Includes a glossy color photo print of Bean putting Plutonium 238 fuel into the SNAP 27 RTG on the lunar surface. Excellent. From the estate of Moonwalker and Artist Alan Bean.
