Description
Gideon Welles: Personally-owned Flintlock Rifle. 58" tall flintlock rifle with octagonal barrel. The stock appears to be maple with some sponge-applied decoration to simulate tiger maple. There are some faint floral designs on the hammer and lock plate. We cannot locate the name of the manufacturer. The ramrod is missing, as well as portions of the upper part of the stock which is not secured tightly at that juncture. This item was owned by Gideon Welles and was sold by his great-great-grandson a handful of years ago, thereafter passing to our current consignor.Auction Info
