Description

Wilhelm Röntgen Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 4.5" x 7" (sight), Munich; July 24, 1920. Written in German, untranslated. Signed, "W.C. Rontgen." Matted and framed with a black and white photograph of Rontgen to an overall size of 21.5" x 18.5". Not examined outside of the frame. COA from Charles Hamilton Autographs accompanies this lot.

Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen (1845-1923) was a German mechanical engineer and physicist, who, on November 8, 1895, produced and detected electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range known as X-rays or Röntgen rays, an achievement that earned him the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901.

Condition: Two file punch holes at left margin. Letter is gently rubbed with 1" closed tear along crease. Frame is lightly scratched.
