Description

Louis Pierre Gratiolet Autograph Letter Signed "Dr. Pierre Gratiolet". Four pages of a bifolium, 5.25" x 8"; no place, no date. Written in French, untranslated, a letter to Jean Pierre Flourens, perpetual secretary of the Academy of Sciences in Paris France. Gratiolet (1815-1865) was a French anatomist and zoologist most noted for his work in neuroanatomy, physiognomy, and physical anthropology. Flourens (1794-1867) was a French physiologist and founder of experimental brain science as well as a pioneer in anesthesia.

Condition: Gently toned with bold ink writing. Pencil annotations at top of first page. Flattened folds.
