Description
Ashley Trimble Cole Collection of Approximately Three Hundred and Seventy Signatures of Scientists. 36 pages, 14.75" x 11.5", no place, circa 1855 - 1931. A large collection of signatures relating to scientists, primarily British, American, French and German in nature. The entries range from inscriptions, clipped signatures, signed cards, envelopes and one check. The majority of the inscriptions are in English, but there are a few entries in French and German as well. The collection contains over three hundred and seventy signatures, including the following: Charles Darwin; Albert Einstein; Thomas Edison; John J. Audubon; Louis Pasteur; George Howard Darwin; William Thomson, Lord Kelvin; Michael Faraday; William Dwight Whitney; Orville Wright; Charles D. Walcott; Louis Agassiz; Spencer F. Baird; Charles Piazzi Smyth; Maria Mitchell; Joseph Henry; August Weismann. They range in size from 3" x 1" to 8" x 2.75".Condition: One page has detached and is laid into the book. One card has also detached and is likewise laid in. Cards have occasional toning with intermittent smudging with light rubbing. Corners of pages are bumped with some edgewear that does not affect the cards.
