Description

Herman Moll. A Map of New Spain, Florida now called Louisiana, and Part of California &c. [London: John Nutt, 1717.] 11 x 7 3/4 inches (sight), matted and framed to an overall size of 20 x 17 3/4 inches. Original copperplate engraving issued for the first edition of Moll's Atlas Geographus: or, a compleat System of Geography, (Ancient and Modern) for America.

Moll's map shows the southern half of North American from California to Florida in meticulous detail. It features numerous Native American tribe locations as well as early settlements along the Gulf Coast and Mississippi River basin. An important and attractive map by one of London's most famous cartographers.

Condition: Not examined out of frame. Lightly toned with smoothed folds.
