Description
Ulysses S. Grant Affix the Seal Document Signed "U.S. Grant." One partially printed page, 8.25" x 10.75", Washington, D.C.; December 9, 1872. President Grant authorizes and directs "the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to a Warrant for the pardon of Frank E. Metcalf." The document is mounted and framed to measure 13.5" x 14.75" overall. Although it is unknown what crime Metcalf committed, it is believed that Grant pardoned approximately 1,332 people during the term of his presidency.Condition: Light edge toning with flattened folds. Minor foxing. Bold signature by Grant.
