Description

Charles Carroll the Settler Document Signed. Single sheet, 21" x 16.25"; Maryland; June 2, 1714. A manuscript land indenture for land purchased by Charles Carroll from Luke Gardiner. Signed on the verso "Charles Carroll". Grandfather of Declaration Signer Charles Carroll of Carrollton, a wealthy planter and lawyer who served as Attorney General for Maryland.

Condition: Folded into eight, with a complete separation along the horizontal fold, and partial separations at vertical folds. The lower left portion of the document is missing. Light staining throughout, but bold ink remains prominent.
