Stephane Mallarme Autograph Letter Signed. Three pages of a bifolium with original transmittal cover, 4 x 6 1/2 inches, [Paris]; August 1, 1876. Letter addressed to Monsieur Castel, the Secretary General of the Company of the North, regarding a proposed trip to London. Signed, "Stéphane Mallarmé." A visionary French poet and symbolist renowned for his profound and innovative contributions, Mallarmé is considered one of the most difficult authors to translate into English. Though he lived in poverty for much of his life, his literary salons in Paris served as intellectual hubs where prominent writers, artists, and thinkers of the time gathered to engage in discussions about art and creativity.

Condition: Creased along folds. Closed separations at the top and bottom margins.
