Description

Thomas Jefferson and James Madison Land Grant Signed "Th: Jefferson" and "James Madison." One partially printed page of vellum, 12" x 14.5" (sight), Washington, D.C.; January 24, 1803. Granting "Peter Garland, a Captain for three years...a certain tract of land, containing one thousand acres." Signed by Jefferson as President and countersigned by Madison as Secretary of State. With a paper seal at the lower left. Document has been matted and framed to the overall size of 18" x 20.25".

Condition: Flattened folds, with toning, soiling, and foxing. Small tears at the top edge.
