Description

Franklin Pierce and Jefferson Davis Signed Military Appointment. Partially printed page on vellum, 13" x 16.75" (sight), Washington, D.C.; February 9, 1854. A document appointing "Robert S. Williamson...Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Topographical Engineers." Signed "Franklin Pierce" as President. Davis countersigns as Secretary of War. Blind embossed paper seal is intact, with ornate engravings at top and bottom. Docketing at the top left corner.

The appointment is framed along with engravings of Pierce and Davis to the overall size of 26" x 23.5".

Condition: Flattened folds with some slight creasing and soiling around the paper seal. Minor soiling on the top ornate engraving, else very good.
