Mark Twain. Life on the Mississippi. Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1883. First American edition, BAL first state, intermediate A (B?), page 441 with tailpiece depicting an urn, flames, and head of Mark Twain, page 443 caption reading "The St. Charles Hotel." Octavo. 624 pages. Illustrated throughout. Publisher's brown cloth stamped in black and gilt. Gray endpapers, all edges trimmed. Housed in a brown slipcase and matching chemise, lettered in gilt.Condition: Touch of edgewear and a few small holes to boards. Textblock lightly and evenly toned, a few small stains.
Near fine, an unusually bright copy.
