Description

Excellent Original Artwork and a Rare First Edition by Christopher Paolini

Christopher Paolini (b. 1983). Original Drawing Signed by Paolini of "Saphira," the Main Character's Dragon in Eragon. This fabulous piece is signed and dated 'Christopher Paolini '03' at bottom right. Executed in black marker on plain paper. Measures approximately 23.75 x 35.75 inches. Rolled. Slightly toned, with a very small portion of the upper left corner missing. Very light creasing to the paper, and minor edgewear. Top edge bumped. A charming, near fine item. Saphira is the dragon that Eragon raises and rides in his quests as a Dragon Rider. Original drawings of Saphira, whom Paolini once described as 'the perfect friend' for Eragon, are extremely rare, especially in this size. It is Saphira's eye which comprises the front cover illustration of the first edition of the book, taken from another illustration by the author, but the famous diamond-shaped eye is present on this drawing, as well. A unique and amazing piece of original art from one of the new millennium's greatest fantasy epics. [Together with:] Christopher Paolini. Eragon. Livingston, Montana: Paolini International, LLC, 2002. Privately printed first edition, first issue (preceding the hardcover first edition). Inscribed and signed by the author on the title-page: "May your swords/stay sharp!/ Christopher Paolini". Octavo. 468 pages plus Acknowledgments and Order Form leaves. Original illustrated glossy wrappers. Very minor rubbing to binding, else a bright, very fine copy.
