Advanced proof copy, uncorrected, of the first edition in English, with black and white photograph of Omar Sharif, signed, laid in. Octavo. 510 pages. Publisher's brown paper wrappers with printed paper label to the upper wrapper. Minor edgewear, wrappers lightly creased and soiled, ink notations to the upper wrapper. Internally generally clean and tight; penciled bookseller notations (some effaced) to the front blank recto, minor foxing to the front of the text block, text block edges toned with minor wear. Together with a black and white photograph of Omar Sharif, who played the title role in the film adaptation, and signed by him across the top; minor edgewear, penciled notations to the back. Housed in custom tan cloth clamshell case with marbled boards and printed paper spine labels. Very good or better.Source material from the 1965 film directed by David Lean and starring Omar Sharif and Julie Christie. The film was highly praised, receiving an incredible ten Academy Award nominations at the 38th Academy Awards. The film ultimately won five Oscars, notably in competition against The Sound of Music, and was also highly successful at the Golden Globes, where it won five of its six award nominations.
