8vo. Publisher's dark blue cloth, spine and front board stamped in gilt; printed dust jacket; cloth slipcase.

FIRST EDITION, FIRST STATE. PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, presumably for a former teacher, on the front free endpaper: "Ada Lear / from / Robert Frost, discipulus / with pleasant memories of / Homeric days in L. H. S. / Christmas 1916." "L. H. S." is Lawrence High School and Ada Lear appears to have been an important teacher or mentor. First state of text with pages 88 and 93 CORRECTED IN FROST'S HAND IN INK.

Condition: Minor edgewear to cloth; a few small stains. Minor wrinkling and a few short tears to uncut edges. Dust jacket unclipped (priced "$1.25 net" on front panel and spine), front panel cleanly split from spine panel; a few horizontal tears in spine panel; worn and starting to split along folds; minor edgewear and a few chips.
