FIRST EDITION. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR on the title-page. This historical novel is based on the fictionalized story of the historical figure, Oskar Schindler, the German industrialist who saved the lives of over a thousand Jews in Poland during the Nazi occupation. Schindler's Ark won the Booker Prize for fiction in 1982. The book was published in the U.S. under the title Schindler's List, which was also the title for the 1993 American film adaptation, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, Caroline Goodall, Jonathan Sagall, and Embeth Davidtz. The film was met with worldwide acclaim, both a major critical and commercial success, and is now regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.
Condition: Boards very fine; very slight smudge to ink on inscription. Dust jacket unclipped (priced "£7.95"); spine very lightly sunned; a few very minor creases at extremities, and slight color transfer to folds on verso. Overall, a very fine copy.
