Juan Sanchez Document Signed. One page, two sided, 8.5" x 12", Leona Vicario, June 16, 1836. Illegible ink stamp at upper left of recto. Brief communication from Leona Vicario, discussing the state of the Church following Santa Anna's defeat at the Battle of San Jacinto, the signing of the Treaties of Velasco by General Santa Anna and Republic of Texas officials, and the resulting retreat of the Mexican Army. Sanchez begins: "I have the honor to accompany a copy of the communication from the supreme government of the Republic addressed to the Bishopric . . . about the unpleasant events of Texas." He mentions the need for all churches to continue receiving funding in an equitable manner, and prays "that the Holy Church should go to heaven." Lengthy docketing on recto. Strong signature with attractive rubric below. Document is in very fine condition.
