Dwight D. Eisenhower. Crusade in Europe. Garden City, New York: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1948. First edition, specially bound presentation issue, signed by Dwight D. Eisenhower on the half-title, additional signed by Eisenhower on the facsimile Order of the Day for June 6, 1944, D-Day.Large octavo. With six color maps and thirty-eight in-text maps by Rafael Palacios. Illustrated with sixteen photographs elected by Edward Steichen. Specially bound in blue levant morocco, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, single gilt rule to each board, front board decorated with gilt and silver SHAEF flaming sword, gilt floral turn-ins. Color pictorial map endpapers, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Original blue cloth slipcase, edged in matching blue morocco, with white felt-lined interior.
Condition: Spine slightly sunned, a few minor instances of wear. Internally clean and bright, minor thumbsoiling in a few spots. Near fine.
