Quarter-Plate Daguerreotype of Eli Whitney, Jr., circa 1847. 3.25" x 4.5". Whitney, the son of inventor Eli Whitney, is seen wearing a dark suit and long hair, displaying a stern stare. Like his father, Whitney, Jr. was an innovative inventor best known for his involvement in the production of the Walker and Whitneyville Colt revolvers. Whitney's factory served as the manufacturer for the famous six shot Walker and this image was taken around the time of its production. Mounted in a leatherette case and lined with purple fabric, the photograph is framed by a gold mat. Minor scuffing.
