Description
Calvin Coolidge et al: Collection of Politicians' Autographs from Presidents, Vice Presidents, and More [ALS][TLS]. This grouping includes ten pieces of signed material, from a United States Senate Chamber card to White House stationery to New York Tribune letterhead. Items signed by personalities include: a Senate Chamber Card and typed letter signed by Charles Fairbanks; a typed letter signed by Calvin Coolidge; a note on a typed letter signed by William Howard Taft to House Speaker Joseph Gurney Cannon; a signed White House card by Eleanor Roosevelt; a typed letter signed by Charles Evans Hughes; and four autographed letters, each signed by a different politician, including James G. Blaine, Rutherford B. Hayes, Senator Henry Wilson, and Whitelaw Reid. Sizes range from 4.125" x 2.75" to 7.875" x 10.5 and span from one page to a bifolium. Toning, very light tearing, staining, and folding are present throughout. The Blaine letter has remnants of tape at the back, and the Reid letter has evidence of a thin strip of paper at verso where it was once possibly mounted. The Wilson letter was backed in a gold-colored sheet of paper, and the Fairbanks letter has some adhesive residue on the back of the first page. In overall great condition, these would be an excellent addition to a collection.Auction Info
