Daily Illinois State Register: President Elect Lincoln Heading to Washington, DC. Lot of seven (7) issues of the Daily Illinois State Register (Springfield, IL) dated in 1861: Jan 25; Feb 13, 16, 20,21, 22, and 23, 1861. These 7 issues were printed in Lincoln's own home town of Springfield, IL and contain long detailed coverage of Lincoln travelling from his home town of Springfield to his inauguration ceremony in Washington, DC. Scarce Lincoln home town newspapers containing day by day coverage of the President-elect's travels to his inauguration. Sadly, Lincoln would never again return to Springfield, IL until his funeral and burial there in the aftermath of his assassination in April 1865. A few examples are only one sheet.Condition: Edge wear at left, else fine.
