Description

William Henry Harrison et al: Pair of Large Engraved Prints for Harrison and Frelinghuysen. Two large and dramatic engraved prints for 1840's political figures William Henry Harrison and Theodore Frelinghuysen. Harrison appears stoic and confident in a 15" x 18 1/2" stone engraving by Charles Fenderich, Washington D.C. from a painting by Franquinet published in 1841. Scattered age spots in the field are not distracting, archivally hinged to a backing (easily removed) and attractively matted. A pleasing and particularly bright example.
A second engraved print features Theodore Freylinghuysen, Henry Clay's vice-presidential candidate in 1844. 15" x 16 3/4" engraved by J. Sartain, Philadelphia from a painting by Rembrandt Peale. The print has light age and mild soiling but overall presents extremely fine.
