Description

[Woman's Suffrage] Rare 1894 Equal Suffrage Ribbon, State Fair Dallas, Texas. We do not recall having seen an example of a State Fair suffrage ribbon, much less this early, and from Texas to boot! The 1894 Texas State Fair in Dallas sponsored a women's congress. The program drew three hundred women and was organized by Ellen Lawson Dabbs, secretary of TERA, and featured women's suffrage speakers. The ribbon measures 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" and features a "lone star" at the top with "Equal Suffrage/State Fair/ Dallas, Tex.,/Nov. 1st, 1894." The ribbon has a tiny hole at the upper left extreme margin but is in otherwise excellent condition. A rare and winning combination sure to be a standout in any Woman's Suffrage display!
