Description
George Washington: Pennsylvania Packet and Daily Advertiser Containing Printing of Letters Between the President and the United Baptist Churches of Virginia. Pennsylvania Packet and Daily Advertiser. [Philadelphia], Pennsylvania; Thursday, January 14, 1790. No. 3419. Four pages, 11.5" x 17.75". Unpaginated an printed in four columns. Encapsulated for protection. The bottom corner of the third page is embossed with the text "Library of Stephen Foreman." This issue contains an inside page printing of an exchange of letters between President George Washington and the United Baptist Churches of Virginia on page 3. In these letters the United Baptist Church congratulated Washington on his being elected President of the United States and Washington expresses his gratitude to them for their good wishes to him. Very early coverage of George Washington's thoughts on religion at the time that he was elected the first President of the U.S.Condition: The integral fold has separated, and there is loss in the right bottom corner and at the top, right, and bottom edges. Minor dampstaining is in the top right corner, affecting all four pages. Light toning is throughout.
