Description

Women's Suffrage: "Age of Brass" Currier & Ives Cartoon. Small folio cartoon published by Currier & Ives in 1869 titled "The Age of Brass. Woman As She Expects To Be." Obviously a satiric effort with women in a domineering role. The lady supervising the ballot box appears to be Elizabeth Cady Stanton. The central figure is Susan B. Anthony, holding a placard reading "Vote For The Celebrated Man Tamer Susan Sharp-Tongue". We can find no auction records for this prohibitively rare print.

Condition: Trimmed to an overall size of 13.75" x 10.75". Light soiling, chipping on two edges, series of nearly imperceptible pinholes around the perimeter. Good overall.
