Description

Andrew Jackson: Three "Hard Times" Tokens. (1) CE-1834-1, 28mm, brass. The obverse features a sailing ship with the text "For the Constitution Hurra [sic]!" The reverse reads, "Flourish Commerce. Flourish Industry./ Whigs Of N. York Victorious Les Trois Jours April 8. 9. & 10. 1834." (2) CE-1838-4, 28mm, copper. The obverse is adorned with a tortoise carrying a safe on its shell. The text reads, "Executive Financiering." The reverse has a donkey at the center and is inscribed "I Follow In The Steps Of My Illustrious Predecessor." (3) CE-1834-2, 28mm, copper. A liberty cap at the center of the obverse is accompanied by the text "The Glorious Whig Victories of 1834." The reverse reads, "Fellow Citizens, Save Your Constitution." The center features a sailing ship.

Condition: All three have expected wear, with minor tarnish. CE-1834-2 has the word "Liberty" worn away on the cap. In overall good condition.
