Description

William Howard Taft: Great "Steamroller" Cartoon Pin. Taft was TR's "anointed one" and chosen successor in the election of 1908. This clever cartoon pin shows Rough Rider Roosevelt driving a "Steam Roller" while the rotund Taft stands above the roller ringing warning bells with both hands. Made by Bastian Brothers, but with Western Bargain House jobber of Chicago back paper. One trivial small, light stain at very top, mentioned for accuracy only. Displays in near-mint condition with high gloss. One of the most sought- after cartoon button designs, and a favorite of the Pressmans among their unmatched collection of cartoon button varieties. From the Collection of Sam and Jeff Pressman.
