Description
John Brown: Set of Three BU Medals. SL-1859-1, 32mm, copper and white metal. These dramatic medals feature John Brown on the obverse with the inscription "Slavery The Sum Of All Villainies/ John Brown/ Marching Along." The reverse features John Brown hanging from the gallows. "Resistance To Tyranny Is Obedience To God" follows the curve while "Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death" and "John Brown" frame the gallows. The date "1859" is at the bottom. One of the white metal medals is lustrous, whereas the other is lustrous on the backside with a darker, toned obverse. The copper is quite lovely with minimal toning.
