Description

Abraham Lincoln: 1860 Currier & Ives Cartoon. A 13.5" x 17" lithograph published by Currier & Ives in 1860, titled "Honest Abe Taking Them on the Half Shell." It shows a smiling Lincoln about to devour the "Soft Shell" Democrat Douglas and the "Hard Shell" Democrat Breckinridge at the "Political Oyster House." One of the best pro-Lincoln cartoons in the Currier & Ives series. Verso exhibits residual brown staining from former tape repairs to address tears at extreme margins. Some of the browning has bled to the front. These edge issues aside the print appears particularly bright with bold contrast and a great display presence! Would benefit greatly from professional framing.
