Description

Abraham Lincoln: Currier & Ives Cartoon. Small folio lithograph 13.5" x 17" published by Currier & Ives in 1860, titled "Storming the Castle. 'Old Abe' On Guard." Lincoln's three opponents attempt to break into the White House. Lincoln, dressed in the uniform of a Wide Awake marcher, catches them in the act, thwarting their nefarious scheme. Expected minor toning, with several tape repairs on verso addressing some minor edge tears and providing reinforcement to edges. Not noticeable from the front. Overall, very good condition. One of the better efforts by C & I, featuring all four candidates and lame-duck President Buchanan.
