Description
Harding & Coolidge: Spectacular 1920 Jugate Badge Rarity Sporting an 1 3/4" Celluloid Button All Harding-Coolidge jugate varieties are rare, but this striking design, one of only two or possibly three known, must rank a close second behind the multicolor 2 1/4" variety sold from the Merrill C. Berman Collection. Often we find that this badge format distracts from the celluloid, but that is certainly not the case here! The jugate is a fully-formed button with metal collet which could just as easily have been worn as a pinback.The Business Men's reference is particularly appealing because of the pro-business policies of the Republican Party of that era. Condition is outstanding, as the photo shows. For strictest accuracy we note a very minor small blemish below Harding's name, barely noticeable or objectionable. The two tiny fine-line triangles on the bottom edge are below the celluloid as made, and appear to be printed on the button paper. One of the top items in the Pressman collection, and an opportunity which may not come again soon, if ever.
