Description
Ulysses S. Grant: Military Portrait on Horseback. 20.5" x 22.25" (sight) military portrait painting of Ulysses S. Grant on Horseback. Oil on canvass, appears to be unsigned. The portrait is housed in what is likely the the original frame for an overall size of 27" x 28.5". Aesthetically quite pleasing. Surface has craquelure. An old patch repair 2" x 2" applied to an area below the stirrup and to the right of the horses hind quarter is well executed, the restoration blends well with the surrounding background. There is no loss or lifting of the paint. An accurate likeness of Grant in military uniform with vibrant color.Condition: Some restoration as described. Wood frame has wear and some minor discoloration to the gilt paint finish. Overall the painting presents in very good to fine condition.
