Buchanan & Breckinridge: Jugate Poster. 12" x 14.75" poster printed in black & tan, titled "The Democratic Platform. The Constitution and the Union, Now and Forever; Wide Enough, Long Enough, and Strong Enough, For All to Stand Upon." Portraits of the 1856 Democrats are featured prominently, along with the names of their proposed Cabinet members, the name of the states, various slogans and Biblical quotations and references. "Originated and Planned by Dr. Jacob Horslacher of New-Berlin, Union Co., Pa. Oct. 22, 1856." Partial separation at folds, trimmed at top, archival tape repair to central horizontal fold, three patches of tape bleed-through with two hinges affixed to reverse. A rarely seen artifact originating in Pennsylvania, lauding James Buchanan as "The Favorite Son of Pennsylvania. One of the Ornaments of the Democratic Party." No minimum bid.
