Description

Andrew Jackson et al: Two Silk Broadsides of Jackson's Farewell Address & Inaugural Address Given By William Henry Harrison. A highly unusual variant which we have not seen before, a printing on silk of the farewell address given by Andrew Jackson on March 4, 1837. The 17.5" x 23.25" broadside is titled, "The Farewell Address of Andrew Jackson, To The Citizens Of The United States." Printed by L.G. Hoffman [Albany, New York], from the J. Doyle DeWitt collection.

Another unusual variant on silk, also not listed in Threads, the Inaugural Address given by William Henry Harrison on March 4, 1841. The 17.25" x 23.25" broadside titled, "President Harrison's Inaugural Address." Printed and Published by J. Murphy, 146 Market Street Baltimore. This printing is an uncommon first issue, lacking the often seen second edition language found on other similar variations of these silk printings which allude to his untimely death.

Condition: The Jackson silk has a few inconsequential pinholes and minor loss at top edge but overall displays in extra fine condition. The Harrison has separations at vertical and horizontal center locations where once folded, couple damp stains as seen, but presents in very good condition overall. Two very rare and desirable broadsides!
