Description

Andrew Jackson: Celebratory Stoneware Jug. Prohibitively rare, 7.75" small-sized stoneware jug impressed "25 000 MAJORITY / FOR / GNL JACKSON". Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1832. Jackson's majority over Henry Clay in Pennsylvania in the 1832 election was 25,260 votes. Ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout and Albany slip glazed surface. A related jar with Albany slip glaze and incised ship, likely by the same maker, stamped "25 0000 MAJORITY / GEN'L JACKSON," is in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

Condition: Excellent condition with a minor spout nick.
