Description

William Henry Harrison: Rare Ceramic Figural Log Cabin With Raccoon. Very rare glazed clay earthenware Log Cabin with Raccoon, signed in script on bottom, "Sarah Roberts December 19th 1845," also has a sticker on bottom attributing the item to the "George S. McKearin Collection of American Pottery." Molded form of a log cabin with two chimneys, windows, and a door and keg at each end. Seated atop the roof is a large, molded raccoon. Often found in the form of a bank, produced by Thomas Haig Jr. of Philadelphia, such is not the case here. This item, while possessing most of the features similar to the Haig banks, is in fact not a bank at all. Measuring 4.5" tall, 3" x 4" at the base, it is a mild cream or light yellow in color, with minor chips to each of the chimney tops, couple of other insignificant losses near edge of roofline. Overall condition is quite nice! No minimum bid. From the J.Doyle Dewitt Collection.
