Description
Abraham Lincoln: Rare Large Oval Ferrotype. There were two types of large ovals for this campaign: a rather broader style intended as belt buckles and the style offered here with pin on reverse for wearing on a lapel. This is a fine example with strong, clear portrait. There is some bubbling of the surface emulsion as is often seen on ferros, but the emulsion is 98% complete. Several very minor fine surface scratches must be noted, but do not detract. Original pin present on verso, but broken. Overall a very presentable, affordable example measuring 1" x 1¾".Auction Info
