Description
1960 Project Mercury Flight Controller Handbook, FCH-1, from the NASA Space Task Group at Langley Field, Virginia. An early and rarely seen publication, 8.5" x 11", dated "1 December 1960", in its original three ring flexible binder, Copy No. "202". Handwritten on the title page is: "Copy 4 of 5/ Instrumentation Br/ Revision A Posted 11 Jan" with a receiving stamp for the "Instrumentation Section/ Launch Operation Branch" dated "Jan 6 1961". There are six major tabbed sections: "1. Environmental", "2 Electrical", "3 Stabilization and Control", "4 Instrumentation", "5 Communications", and "6 Sequencing". Two sections with handwritten tabs have been added: "7 Miscellaneous" and "Revision Instr". Included in the contents of this manual are more than two dozen pull-out charts, many are in color and several have handwritten or typed notations. Included loose with this binder are a number of later revisions, each multiple paged and not hole punched, as follows: "18 January 1961/ Revision B" date stamped Feb 20, 1961; "20 January 1961/ Revision C" date stamped Feb 20, 1961; "13 January 1961/ Revision D" date stamped Feb 20, 1961; "27 January 1961/ Revision F" date stamped Feb 20, 1961; "7 February 1961/ Revision G" date stamped Mar 24, 1961"; "February 10, 1961/ Revision H" two date stamps- Mar 23 and 24, 1961; and "February 7, 1961/ Capsule Configuration Report" date stamped Mar 24, 1961.
