Spanish-American War: 10th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry MALATE Medal and 10th Infantry Collar Insignia.

Gilded-brass planchet, 37 x 37-mm, maker-marked J. K. Davison, Phil. The attractive medal features a bust of the regiment's commander, Colonel Alexander Hawkins in the center. The blue-enamel arms of the cross have palm trees at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, "MALATE" at the top and a white-enamel 8th Corps badge in the lower arm. The reverse is captioned: "CAPUCHIN CONVENT P.I. JULY 31. 1898". The planchet is backed with a green silk ribbon and suspended via chains from a pendant captioned: "PHILIPPINE ISLANDS / 10TH PENNA. VOL INF." Accompanied with a gilt, pinback 10th Infantry collar insignia.

Condition: The silk ribbon has spit in two but is complete. Very good. Nicolas D. Wood Collection
