Description
Marlin / Ballard Falling Block Single Shot Rifle.Serial no. 15408, .22 caliber, 26-inch octagonal barrel with hooded front sight and folding leaf rear sight. Blued finish. Top of barrel marked: JOHN RIGBY & CO. DUBLIN & LONDON, with London proofs to left side of barrel. Case-hardened receiver, lever and hammer. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Checkered hard rubber butt.
Provenance: The Don Otterson Collection.
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a smooth, dark grey patina, thinning to relief edges, scattered handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Noticeable dings and scuffs to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
