Cased German Aesculap, Jetter & Scheerer, Tuttlingen Surgical kit.

A very nice three tiered case set of surgical and amputation instruments, set is almost complete with minor vacancies; highlights includes a removable tray with multiple surgical knives such as scalpels and Liston-style examples; tweezers, forceps, scissors, hammer and large bone saw. Contained in wood and brass cased box. Inner lid marked: AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT / FUR / FEINMECHANIK / VORM. JETTER & SCHEERER / TUTTLINGEN.

The Aesculap-Werke, vormals Jetter & Scheerer, company traces its beginnings back to Gottfried Jetter in 1867. Aesculap is known throughout history as the largest and best-known German manufacturer of surgical instruments. In 1889, the snake, staff and crown trademark was registered. In 1899, the brand name became AESCULAP and was registered.

Condition: Very good. Overall showing honest handling wear, age and storage wear.
