Description

Soviet Cosmonauts 1970 U.S. Visit: Collection of Original NASA Photos Including Six with "Red Numbers." Between October 18-28, 1970, two Soviet cosmonauts, Andrian Nikolayev and Vitaly Sevastyanov, both fresh off a successful and record-breaking Soyuz 9 mission, toured the United States at NASA's invite. Offered here are six 10" x 8" color glossy "red number" photos and one B&W glossy, all taken at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston. They are shown getting keys to the city, looking at a T-38 jet, and interacting with their American counterparts such as Buzz Aldrin (their host), Pete Conrad, Deke Slayton, and Walt Cunningham. All have printed press captions on the verso and all are excellent. From the personal collection of longtime NASA photojournalist Andrew "Pat" Patnesky.
