Description
Engraved & Inscribed Colt Model 1851 Revolver.Serial no. 2225, .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel. Top of barrel reads ADDRESS SAML COLT NEW YORK CITY. Custom, modern engraving throughout. Backstrap marked: PULASKI JACKS / SAN FRANCISCO. Together with auction tag from Tom Keilman Auctions in Round Rock, Texas as lot 1320. Tag reads: "Engraved Colt '51 Navy, 2nd Model, #2225, With old, checkered grips. The backstrap is engraved "Polaski Jacks", San Francisco. (Jacks was a badman hanged by a vigilante committee in 1859.) Dovetail foresight, Traces of silver on brass straps. Gray finish on iron. Good cylinder scene. Good Cond." Please note: gun is sold as spurious. It displays well. Sold together with unmarked slim jim California holster, shows well.
Condition: Good as configured. Gun appears to be a later copy example of a Colt 1851 Navy. Engraving and markings added later. Gun has an overall mellow patina overall. One piece grips worn. Verdigris present. Nelson A. Faerber Collection, Part II.
