Description

U.S. Naval Cutlass, Starr Contract of 1816. 25 ½-inch straight blade; just short of 31 ½-inches overall. Faintly marked "N. STARR" on the obverse ricasso. Sheet metal guard. Round, slightly barrel-shaped wooden grip.

Condition: Fair. Uniform pitting to the blade and sheet-metal hilt. The blade has been painted silver at one time and the hilt painted gold. The tip of the blade is slightly rounded.
