Description

WWII Poster: "UNITED WE WIN".

40 x 28 1/4-inches, from a photograph by Alexander Liberman, U.S. Government Printing Office, 1942, War Manpower Commission, Washington, D.C. The war effort required a considerable increase in hiring to meet the increasing demand for factory production. This need necessitated easing the rather strict segregation of workers and crossing the color divide for the common good. The poster features two actual employees-a black man, Louis Ward, and a white man, Walter Shippe, working together at a Republic Aircraft Corporation plant. Above them a large U.S. flag, in bold red, white and blue colors hammers home the theme that "United We Win", despite the differences.

Condition. The poster has been stored folded, has some toning in the folds and a small hole at the intersection of the folds beneath the canton on the flag. Very good condition.
