Description
Japanese Nambu Type 14 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Shoulder Holster and "Bring Back" items.Serial no. 66844, 8mm Nambu caliber, 4 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Blued finish. Japanese proofs. Grooved wooden grip panels with the carving of T / C on each side [a war trophy from a family relative/veteran after the war, according to consignor notes, but not confirmed]. Aluminum based magazine numbered: 829. Lanyard ring. Based on the code on right side of frame 14.9, this gun was manufactured September, 1939, considered to be a transitional period. Nambu World states these Japanese proofs/markings are from Nambu Rifle Manufacturing Company/Chuo Kogyo Production at Kokubunji under Nagoya Arsenal Supervision. Contained in shoulder holster with tools, no strap present. A Type 14 cleaning rod and spare firing pin (striker) is present in the holster. Also included with the gun and holster are the following "bring backs"; A cased Sino Japanese Chinese Incident War Service Medal, a cased WW2 Japanese 2600th Imperial Rule Anniversary Medal, pair of private first class rank tabs and what appears to be an armband; all items resemble war souvenirs, but cannot be confirmed.
Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 92-94% finish with some thinning to relief edges [holster wear], handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Tracking line to safety area, common on these guns. Grips good with later owner's initials. Holster with marks and scratches from storage and use. Verdigris to brass/metal parts. Action good. Strong bore with traces of cosmoline. Extra items with storage and handling wear, cloth with staining.
