Description

Czechoslovakian Order of the White Lion Grand Officer (Civil) in the Original Case. Made by Karnet Kysely, Prague. Comprising: 1.) Grand Officer neck badge, multi-piece construction, silver gilt with enamels. Measuring 54 x 83-mm to the top of the crown; and weighing 1.70 ounces. Neck ribbon of red moire silk with white stripes. 2.) Breast star, multi-piece construction, silver with red enamels, measuring 88-mm and weighing 2.8 ounces. Maker marked on the back. In the original fitted-case of issue. The order was established in 1922 and awarded for outstanding service to Czechoslovakia or Czech Republic. From the estate of Božidar Puric (1891-1977), a Serbian and Yugoslav politician and diplomat. Between 1928 and 1934 he was chargé d' affaires in the Embassy of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in the United States and its ambassador in France in 1935. During World War II, Puric was the prime minister of the Yugoslav government-in-exile between August 10, 1943 and July 8, 1944.


Condition: Very good. Some tarnishing and storage wear; lid of case has become detached (missing hinge pins).
