Spanish-American War: Four New York City of Albany Named Veterans Medals and Albany Rangers Association Medal.Includes: 1) City of Albany Veterans medal, bronze, 38-mm planchet with bronze pendant. Obverse captioned: "PRESENTED BY THE CITY OF ALBANY NEW YORK"; the reverse: "IN / RECOGNITION OF / HONORABLE SERVICE / RENDERED IN THE WAR / BETWEEN THE / UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / AND SPAIN / 1898." Engraved on the rim: "FRANK R. M. WEMPLE Co. B, 1st INF N.Y. Vols." 2) Identical in form to the previous. Engraved on the rim: "WILLARD A. BROWNELL Co. B. 1st Inf. N.Y. Vols." 3) Identical in form to the previous. Engraved on the rim: "Gustav E. Bowitz Troop G 3rd U.S. Cavalry." 4) Albany Rangers association medal, bronze, 38-mm, obverse captioned: "COLONEL JOHN MEREDITH READ"; reverse: "ALBANY RANGERS ORGANIZED APRIL 21. 1898."
