Rare 4-Digit U.S. Cavalry Custer Colt Single Action Army Revolver.

Serial no. 6047 [frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt], .45 caliber, 5 1/8-inch shortened barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Blued finish. Top of barrel marked: - COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. -. Two-line, two-date patent and U.S. stamped to left side of frame. Ainsworth "A" inspector mark to base of barrel, cylinder, triggerguard and backstrap. "P" stamped to base of barrel and cylinder. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. Manufactured in 1874. Accompanied by a two-page John A. Kopec letter dated August 26, 2016. Confirming the Ainsworth inspection and that it was part of Lot Six of revolvers issued to the 7th Cavalry.

Condition: Good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with noticeable areas of handling wear and pitting. Tracking line to cylinder. Replacement parts include: ejector tube, oval ejector head, base pin and grip. ejector screw hole has been drilled. scuffs and dings present to wood. Action poor. Pitted bore.
